Don’t ask How! July 29, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — melissapearson @ 10:33 am

I was doing my quiet time this morning and the Lord really spoke to me.  It was incredible because I often wonder if He really hears me. It’s crazy because the Lord used Jonathan last night which caused me to start thinking about this. Jonathan said, Don’t ask How, it will get taken care of.  Then this morning after I was praying this is what I wrote in my journal “Stop asking how things will work out. Just trust, seek and do your best to follow the will of God.”  It really encouraged me and I wanted to share it with y’all.

Next Week = Paradise! July 24, 2008

This morning when I walked up to my office door the door knob was covered in hawaiian lays and one rubber duck. There was a sign posted that read “Last week of MFuge Next week equals paradise. ” When I opened my door, the girls who work with me had covered my office with lays and small hawaiian rubber ducks.  Needless to say, it was quite a surprise this morning to see all the new decorations.  The girls who have worked with me this summer, Meghan and Amber, have been giving of themselves selfishly since the beginning of May.  I know they are ready for this week to be over.  I have a week and a half left of classes then my life will suddenly become extremely different. I will just have to work without going to class. I’m not so sure what I am going to do with myself.  Granted, I have some wedding stuff that I will have to finish up but for the most part I will have a lot of free time on my hands. Trust me, I am not complaining.  I wish I had a picture of my office to post, but my camera is broken.

On Friday, one of the last days of my vacation, Jonathan took me to the Braves game. Friday was the best day of the whole week. Jonathan came and picked me up around 10 that morning and we were off to Atlanta. We stopped in Commerce, GA to walk around these great outlets. I wish we had outlets like those, they had JCrew, Abercrombie and Fitch, and Polo. I think we got jipped on our outlets compared to these. We had fun walking around, and Jonathan offered to buy me something if I found anything I liked. I know you wont believe this, but he didn’t have to buy anything.  I found some stuff on sale, but just didn’t get it. I know what you are thinking, she must have been sick. Ha! Afterwards, we went to eat at Krystal (pre-diet days) and they had this amazing banana pudding milkshake. I can’t describe how good it was, I wish we had a Krystal. Finally we arrived in Atlanta, and Jonathan bought tickets for us to tour turner field. This was really cool because we got to go in the press room, sit in the dugout, go in a luxury suite (it cost around 15,000 a season.. anyone up for it), and the 755 club. After the tour was over, we left turner field for a little while to grab a bite to eat and wait for the game to start. We arrived back to turner field around 5:30 and the first order of business was to buy a # 1 foam finger. I had been looking forward to getting this for quite awhile.  It was so fun to have during the game, and Jonathan was so sweet to buy it for me.  Here is a picture of me with the foam finger.

Be careful what you ask for… July 22, 2008

I know it’s been awhile since I have posted anything on here, and have been threatened that if I don’t post soon I will be taken off of Jonathan’s Blog Roll.  Since, I don’t dare want that to happen, I decided to catch you all up on everything that’s been going on lately.

Things have been so crazy in my life lately that I have not even had a chance to hardly think about anything except what was coming next. Last week, thankfully, I got to go on vacation. Jonathan and I went to the upstate to spend some time with his family.  It was so fun to get away from all the stresses of life here in Charleston and hang out with my future in-laws.  By the way, that is kind of a funny word for such sweet people like Jonathan’s parents. Anyway, random thought.  Monday, Jonathan picked me up for lunch and after we ate, I said.”Let’s go on an adventure!” “Take me somewhere I have never been before.” See at this point we had nothing planned for the week except for Friday. So, Jonathan drove over to this beautiful lake and we got out, walked around, and it was so peaceful.  Jonathan saw some men fishing and wanted to go fishing himself. So, about the time he went to ask the warden about a fishing permit, his phone rang….and that is where the adventure started.

See, his mom left that morning to help take the kids at Northwood, their home church, to camp in Georgia. That call was from his mom informing him that the bus had broken down. She was stranded at the Wendys off an exit in Georgia about 17 miles from the camp.  So, we left the lake and had to go pick her up. While we were on our way to pick her up, Jonathan’s phone rang again. This time the news was worse. It was a call from one of his friend’s mom asking him to conduct the funeral service for her dad.  So, needless to say, Jonathan had to a prepared for a funeral on Wednesday.  We got to Georgia and picked up Jonathan’s mom at the Wendys and headed back to Greer.

Tuesday was not as crazy, but busier than we had hoped for seeing that it was supposed to be vacation.  We went to lunch and started shopping for me a black dress. Jonathan was also looking for a minister’s manual that came in very handy.  We didn’t have to worry about Jonathan’s black suit because I got dad to overnight it to him.  Wednesday was the funeral and Jonathan really did a great job comforting the family, and telling great stories to make them laugh.  Jonathan is going to make a great pastor!!

Thursday was our day to relax, we didn’t really do much of anything and we deserved it after the crazy start to the week. The saying goes be careful what you ask for because you just might get it, and I sure learned my lesson. I asked for an adventure, and boy did I get it!
