Here is the whole group! Rachel is in the middle beside me!

She got a lot of great gifts for the new baby!

I think everyone had a lot of fun and we all can’t wait to meet baby Church!!

I have some exciting news to share! I finally got an email back from a firm that I sent my resume to a couple of weeks ago.  If you missed the post about my job searching, you can read about it here.  I have been praying a lot lately for the Lord to direct me in the way he wants me to go as far as a career is concerned. The email said they would follow-up with me tomorrow, so please pray that everything goes well.  Whether this door is shut permanently or is opened a little more, I pray that I would continue to trust and have faith that the Lord is going to take care of us!  Thanks so much for prayers!!  I will keep you updated when I get more information!!

What a busy weekend! April 21, 2008

Filed under: My Life — melissapearson @ 9:58 am

Yesterday marked 8 months until the wedding date and it couldn’t come fast enough!!  There are alot of things that must happen before (find a new job and move from Charleston) but I have faith that everything is going to workout just fine. I could always use some prayers.  This weekend was extremely busy for me and I didn’t get much sleep.  I was on duty for Residence Life at Charleston Southern. So, for those of you who don’t know what that is basically, anything that happens in or around the dorms I would be responsible for taking care of. Also we had cheerleading try-outs for the university this weekend. We had alot of girls come to try-out and many of them could tumble, which is always great! After try-outs Friday night, I had to take a girl to the hospital for a head injury.  We waited in the waiting room from 9:30 til 2:45 the next morning. Come to find out, there was nothing wrong with the girl after x-rays, but that’s another story for another day.  After getting home and to sleep around 3am, I had to get up at 8am to get ready for tryouts the next day. The final cut was made and I think the squad is going to be better than last year so look out Charleston Southern!! I was off duty at 5pm and went to eat with Jonathan at Applebee’s. I had been craving Applebee’s for a while, (don’t know why), but was unimpressed with the food and service. Afterwards, I needed to go to Wal-mart to get groceries to make what I was taking to Rachel’s baby shower.  Needless to say, Wal-mart was an experience and we didn’t get home until 9pm.  I went home to make a brownie trifle and spinach dip from scratch and didn’t get in the bed until after midnight. As many of you know, Jonathan works at a church in Orangeburg so we normally leave around 8am for church.  We went to church and then to a new Zaxby’s in Orangeburg. It was yummy! I left to go to the shower in Columbia and He left to go home to watch the braves! (He’s quite the Braves fan) The shower was at a friend’s house who I had not seen in a while. The shower was so much fun because I got to see friend’s that I haven’t seen  in years.  After the shower, I got home around 8:30pm.  I finally got to see Jonathan and of course we watched baseball until left around 11. Needless to say, this weekend was crazy!! I will post some pictures from the baby shower as soon as I can!! Hope you all have a great week!

Selfishness… April 5, 2008

The more I think about it, the more I have a really hard time loving people who are selfish. It absolutely drives me crazy the people who only think about themself, who only look out for what they want to do, and how they can better themself.  I like to call these type people users because they will use people to get what they want out of them and then drop them afterwards. They never want to repay any favors or just geniuely help someone out because there is nothing in it for them.

I guess the reason that this drives me nuts is because I am the absolute opposite. I am very service natured, I will do anything for anyone (well for the most part.) Jonathan recently wrote a blog on selfishness to read it click here! I guess I have done enough ranting!

-downtown Charleston, SC (If you aren’t from Charleston, the streets are narrow and always crowded)

-rainy afternoon

- 35,000 people converging on the city

- no where to park

-rush hour traffic

Well, now that you have that nice picture in your head, that was me yesterday downtown Charleston attempting to pick up my sister’s race packet for the Cooper River Bridge Run, Oh and by the way, she’s not even coming to race, she wanted the T-shirt! So, see what you don’t know about this situation is one, I absolutely hate driving downtown because of all the traffic and two, which is even worse the impossibility of finding a parking place for free. Anyways, since I am always the nice sister, I went down there amongst all the tourists to get this packet, and when I get down there I realize that I have no clue where this place is actually located.  So, I call this girl that I work with and she has to look it up on Map Quest.  So, she gets me there and the silver lining in all of this is I do find a parking spot in a bakery across the street. That really was a miracle!! So, I park, get out and walk over to the auditorium where I need to get this packet. (Side note: I have never participated in this race so I have no clue what to do, and my sister tells me I just need her address to pick it up.. little did she know.) I walk in the door and have no clue where to go to get this packet, vendors start handing me all these papers that I have no need and finally there is a sign for Chip pickup. I have to go up the stairs find her name on the long long list to get her number.  After I find the number, I must walk to the other side of the building to pick up the chip packet, keep in mind she isn’t racing or even coming. Finally, this leads to back down the stairs to the stage where I wait in this long line to get this long awaited packet.  So, I get it and head back to the car and then get stuck in rush hour traffic on the interstate on the way back home!!

Well Meredith, I hope you enjoy your T-shirt!!

I don’t want to grow up… April 1, 2008

Filed under: Wedding, future plans — melissapearson @ 9:26 am

With my 26th birthday fastly approaching, the more I realize how much responsibility has been placed on my life. There are lot of changes happening, which are good, but often frustrating because I’m not sure where I will land.

Job Hunting: Looking for a job is probably one of the most nerve-racking processes on Earth. Follow me on this one, you send out your resume to a lot of people who don’t even know you exist. You know you are a hard worker, dedicated to your employer, but they don’t so you must convince them. Talk about awkward when you walk into a place you have never been before and have to put yourself on display like you are for sale.  So, needless to say, I’m not to excited about this part of the new change.

Moving: This I’m pretty excited about! I have been living in what I like to call the cement palace for the last two years and I am certainly ready for a change! Granted, it’s free but I’m so ready for my own place to call home! Jonathan and I are planning on buying a house (after I find that job) and so be praying for us as we go through this uncharted territory!

Getting Married: Save the best for last right? Well, I did in this case! I’m so excited about getting married! Everything has come together and the plans have pretty much been made! The dress is ordered and it will be here in June, all the bridesmaids have their dresses, the cake has been ordered and I’ve booked the photographer and DJ. (check out the photographer here!) So times are changing around here and it couldn’t be better!
